Under the portico of Rome’s Pantheon, the sun beams through the granite Corinthian columns. The monument in its current state dates from around 125 AD, though an earlier version was first constructed in 31 BC. Its original purpose was to be a temple to all gods. Since the Renaissance it has also been used as a tomb and today also functions as a Catholic church. Photo by Danielle Voirin.
