Inner Space

Inner Space for September 2005

September's astrology is colored by an event in early October -- an eclipse of the Sun in Libra, which brings a fast onrush of changes that have a balancing and stabilizing effect on relationships. That ever-challenging integration between friends and lovers advances itself to the level of common sense that manages not to filter out the emotional flavor that makes love interesting. The hurdle most people face is believing that love and trust can coexist peacefully, but that's another way of saying that it's difficult to believe the past and future can exist independently of one another. Events leading into the eclipse draw us toward the vortex of the moment where we see the passage of time for what it is.

Aries (March 20-April 19)
You seem to be taking an unusually hygienic attitude toward your personal affairs, though the emotions rarely stay dry or clean for long. What you can do is keep the water flowing, the windows open and some level of a discussion happening. But you run the risk of talking or reasoning yourself out of an erotic encounter that could bring you some of the nourishment and pleasure you're seeking the most. Remember, passion is what you want, not what your daddy told you it should be. He knew a lot, but he didn't know everything.

Taurus (April 19-May 20)
It's not so bad, is it? Now that you've made some decisions that allow you to think of everyone as someone besides an authority figure, it's a lot easier to see them as your fellow Earthlings. Meanwhile, sweeping rearrangements to your home have given way to a process of cleaning out your mind. For a while, you're likely to be picking through the debris of the past, mental and otherwise, bit by bit. Soon comes the day when you decide to throw the lot of it into the dustbin all at once.

Gemini (May 20-June 21)
Making home is a creative matter as much as it is a practical one; at the moment, the creative aspect is emphasized, which means thinking with your heart as well as your head. For a while there you worked yourself into a bit of chaos wondering what would be next; all of a sudden it seems to be coming a lot more easily than you had anticipated. What you must guard against is getting caught up in emotional dramas that, in reality, have nothing to do with reality.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
To take advantage of developing aspects in the emotional and domestic angle of your chart, you must presume not only that your needs are going to be taken care of. You need to open your mind to all that you know is possible, and much that you hope is possible. You've proven to yourself too many times that your own negative thinking gets in the way more than anything, and it's time you got the lesson in the most constructive and positive way. So keep active track of what you want, what you need, and what you know will make you feel right.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23)
If you want to preserve your role as keeper of the kingdom, you need to do an interesting juggling act between friendly tyrant and skillful negotiator. It's not a difficult balance to strike, and I suggest that the abundance of ideas you're having about how you want your life to be should provide some solid motivation. If it's true that the people around you lack sufficiently clear ideas about where their life is going, it's also true that your own sense of mission and determination are the perfect orientation point for them. So don't feel bad about making decisions. What's good for you really is good for everyone else.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
You have access to so many resources because you need them. But that's another way of saying that you, personally, are a resource for many people around you, and they for you. If you can live out this truth, stop judging yourself for not being enough, and commit to giving the best of yourself every day. You'll discover that you actually have very few needs you can't actually meet. Most of those involve a true necessity that someone you trust sets an example for what else is possible besides what you personally envision.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
Later this month, the Sun enters your birth sign, which should provide some reassurance about one particular emotional or domestic issue you thought was long gone. You're a more complicated person than you prefer to admit, but you would go a long way just by admitting it to yourself. The uncertainty factor, you will discover, begins to work very much in your favor, because once you get clear that the old solutions were not solutions at all, you'll find a true sense of freedom in taking an entirely creative approach to the question. When in doubt, do something other than what your parents would do.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
You've begun to rethink a certain plan or course of action that seemed to work well enough for a while, but which may have proven disastrous. If you can get past the feeling that life should be a certain way, or that people on television really have it better than you, you'll have room in your mind for the things that really matter. Certain facts of your past imbued you with a particular kind of reticence or even conservatism that's nothing more than mental baggage of generations gone by. You live in a new place and a new time -- so let that be real, and it will be.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
By now, you should see the wisdom of living like you don't really have one true place you call home. You have avoided not only a sense of being trapped, but are also free from certain attachments that will allow you to make domestic changes and decisions involving your location much simpler. It seems you have a hope or dream of getting yourself far away, and perhaps making your home in a culture that's completely unfamiliar. This is one dream that could really come true.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
People often think of you as conservative, but typically that's a code word for scared. These days, it would seem you're anything but frightened or intimidated, and part of why you can afford to be so brave is because you've decided to base your judgments on what you see and feel, rather than on what someone else told you was true. It may have been true for them, but you have your own dreams and ambitions, and thus you have no space in your life for everyone else's insecurities.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
If you can guarantee to live alone for the next few months, that would be a very good idea. You need the emotional space, which is another way of saying that what you feel and what you need are of no consequence to others. Remember that, and begin arranging your life so that you have space around you -- be it a room, a house or the entire ranch. If this is not possible, you're in an unusually good time to get on the road and find out what you've been missing in the great big world. But whatever you may choose, choose something other than frustration, and make your decision the moment you notice yourself struggling; though long before would be better.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Part of living a secure life is having work you need that puts you in contact with the community in an important, meaningful and tangible way. If you don't deny this, you'll be much more open to opportunities that meet your criteria, and these will be the ones that support a higher level of comfort. Much of the energy you've been putting out to the world is going to be coming back to you, so while you have the chance, make sure that what you're giving away is entirely positive and loving. The better you feel, the better this is working.
